Brasserie Thiriez is a small craft brewery located in the Nord-Pas-de-
Calais region of France, quite close to the Belgian border. It is
situated on the grounds that formerly housed the Poitevin farm brewery,
which was active and served the local area until 1945. The current
brewery was founded in 1996 by Daniel Thiriez, who had become interested
in reviving the tradition of the small village brewery.
(Red Flemish) The Rouge Flamande is a beer which draws its name from a
race of milch cows. The Rouge Flamande beer was born on March 28, 1999
at the time of an inauguration of a statue of the animal (cow), in
Bergues. Brewed for this occasion at the request of the stockbreeders, this beer
of one-day; became naturally a Flemish specialty.
Amber beer, its smell of barks of citrus fruits brings a taste of foam
with the roasted hazelnut, a delicious taste on the palate to a
beautiful harmony and splendid notes hopped with the persistent flowered
bouquet at the end.
Recommended by the brotherhood of cheese from Bergues.
This beer was developed originally as a Christmas beer in 2004. Its
black color has surprised, its taste roasted and timbered, without
being neither bitter nor sweetened, enchanted.
At the beginning of 2005, thanks to a stay with Charleville-Mezieres
(Northern-East of France), its final name was given. This is a roasted
malt, like a coffee bean, which gives this so particular dress. Is
appropriate particularly for the cuisine with beer, in particular for
the Flemish carbonade. (Carbonate Flamande, typical dish from the
Flemish part in France)
Etoile
du Nord 330ml
Price (incl. tax): ¥440
5.5% Alc.
Initially named "brothers of beers" (Frere de la Biere, in
French) ,
it is result of a good partnership with an Englishman brewer (UK),
John Davidson from the Swale Brewery, within the framework of a
European Union project (called Interreg).
Blond, light in rate of alcohol, a generous aromatic hop of Kent,
gives its unique character.
As soon as on the palate, the bitterness is there, powerful, coating,
is well associated with malt. Soft structure, well malted and without
heaviness. Hop with its natural state invades the palate. The strong
amateurs will enjoy it for sure.
