Hokkaido International Schools Third World Scholarship Fund This fund was started four years ago by funding from the Kitara concert put on by the students of Hokkaido international school. Since then, we have had two children from developing countries attend the school each year.
These children are dependents of Mombusho Scholars whose stipends from the Japanese Government does not cover international school tuition.
If not for attending HIS, these children could be at a major disadvantage upon returning home and continuing their education. Recently, the
Ghanaian father of a recipient of our scholarship was accepted at an American University; thanks to attending H.I.S., his son was able to
continue his education without missing a beat.
This year we plan to welcome a new student from the African continent.
